Arranging for all Members of Legislative Council to visit Shanghai

Members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) have made requests to visit the Mainland. The Central Government has agreed to make arrangements for all LegCo Members to visit Shanghai on April 12 and 13. This will be an excellent opportunity to enhance understanding and communication. I fully agree with what LegCo President Mr Jasper Tsang said to the media this morning. I hope that all LegCo Members will cherish this opportunity.

I know that LegCo Members have different expectations on the activities to be included in the visit. I will reflect their views to the Central Government and the Shanghai Municipal Government to strive for accommodating their requests and meeting their expectations.

As to the Home Visit Permit issue raised by some Members, I am aware of their requests and will continue to bring them up with the relevant department of the Central Government to seek the early issuance of the permits to Members who do not currently hold one.
