Gathering with Hong Kong people living in the United Kingdom

Yesterday was the second day of my visit to the United Kingdom (UK). One of my activities was a gathering in London with Hong Kong people from different parts of the UK, including Scotland and Northern Ireland. I updated them on Hong Kong's latest developments and listened to their views on the Special Administrative Region Government's policies. As a rule set by the current-term Government, all Principal Officials and I, when going on duty visits, must set aside time for meeting the Hong Kong communities in our destinations as far as possible.

Over 100 Hong Kong people came to yesterday's gathering. More than 10 of them were winners of the first Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme launched this year. These outstanding students are now studying in the UK. I am glad to know that the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in London has got and kept in touch with these students after they arrived in the UK.
