Mr Chan, 47, is a Hong Kong Deputy to the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China. He is also the Chairman of the Council for Sustainable Development, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Judicial Salaries and Conditions of Service, Chairman of the Antiquities Advisory Board, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Revitalisation of Historic Buildings, member of the Health and Medical Development Advisory Committee and Vice-Chairperson of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. He was a Legislative Council member and was awarded a Gold Bauhinia Star in 2006.
