Mr Donald Tsang (since 2005)
is the first Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region
to live and work in Government House.
The telecommunications, ventilation and electricity systems have been updated to present-day standards, and an outdoor fish pond has been added in the back garden.
Government House now stands as
a harmonious blend of architectural
features introduced over the past century-and-a-half. This has created a unique character, reflecting most of the periods of Hong Kong's history, and has endowed the building with a certain mystique and grandeur. Over the years, the occupants, guests and staff of Government House have all contributed in their own way
to its rich history.
