Caring about our young people

Recently, I invited nearly 100 students and teachers who participated inProject WeCan to a tea gathering at Government House.

Organised by the Wharf (Holdings) Limited and encompassing a wide variety of activities, the Project has drawn the participation of more than 25 000 students since its launch nearly three years ago. The students who attended the tea gathering had participated in many activities under the Project, including running booths at the Lunar New Year Fair, internship and mentorship programmes, voluntary services and studying abroad on scholarship. While they have had different experiences, these students have one thing in common, which is a passion for advancement. I am deeply encouraged by their readiness to broaden their horizons and train themselves both physically and mentally through the Project.

Devoting resources to nurturing our next generation is one of the key points of my Policy Address. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will continue to focus on youth development, especially whole-person development, so as to enable young people with different abilities, aspirations and life goals to unleash their potential and strive for their future.
