ePrix

I was very pleased to attend the press conference on the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Formula E Championship - Hong Kong ePrix 2016 today. The ePrix is a new class of international car racing. It is also a new event for Hong Kong. The organisers plan to make Hong Kong the first leg of the 2016-2017 season, with the circuit running along the new Central Harbourfront. Pit-lanes and stands will be set up there, and associated activities will be held on the weekend of the race.

All along, the Special Administrative Region Government has been committed to developing Hong Kong into a green and clean city. We offer tax incentives and work with the private sector to set up a charging network in order to promote eTransport here. The people of Hong Kong are also becoming more receptive to electric vehicles. The ePrix is an international event combining environmental, sports and entertainment elements. It is a great opportunity for the promotion of environmental protection and Hong Kong.

I wish the Hong Kong ePrix great success and look forward to enjoying the exciting race in October next year together with all the people of Hong Kong.
