Azaleas at Government HouseGovernment House will be open for public visit tomorrow. Today, I specifically invited more than 900 senior citizens and persons with disabilities to visit Government House before the Open Day, so that they could appreciate the architectural features, flowers and plants in Government House. Azaleas at Government House usually blossom in March. However, the temperature fluctuated a lot this winter and spring, even hitting a 59-year record low in late January and with higher rainfall than usual. The unstable weather made it hard to predict the flowering period, and we had to rack our brains over the date of the Open Day. In the past few weeks, colleagues looking after the garden of Government House made a lot of preparations and tried all sorts of means to ensure that the plants there would be in the best condition when the public visits. But the weather is the decisive factor. The senior citizens and persons with disabilities who came here today were very interested in Government House’s architecture and decorations. They were full of praise for the flowers and plants that were under the good care of our staff. Despite the cold weather today, the visitors were all eager and enthusiastic. I hope that you will take good care of your health during the cold spell, and fill the community with love by caring more about the people around you who are in need. I also hope that the public will enjoy themselves and appreciate the historical monument and blossoming flowers when visiting Government House tomorrow. March 12, 2016   | | |
