Celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival with primary students

The Mid-Autumn Festival is an important traditional occasion for family reunion. I have always saidthat Hong Kong is our home and all 7 million people in Hong Kong are one big family. Therefore, I invited some members of this big family - about 80 primary students with special educational needs along with their families and teachers - to celebrate the festival at Government House today.

These students, aged from 6 to 12, came from six primary schools. I watched performances with them in the Ballroom and gave each of them a small gift. Afterwards, they went to the garden with their lanterns and took a tour around.

We also invited the first runner-up of the School Dance Festival (Primary School Section), the Kowloon Bay St John the Baptist Catholic Primary School dance team, to perform a Chinese drum dance for this festive occasion.
