Tackling the housing issue at source

I am glad to hear that 988 units at Greenview Villa in Tsing Luk Street will be open for applications from December 28 this year, as announced by the Hong Kong Housing Society yesterday. This is good news for people who cannot afford private flats. Indeed, the Greenview Villa project carries dual significance for me and the community. It represents not only the first batch of subsidised housing units put on sale by the new Government, but is also the first subsidised housing project launched since the Government decided to cease indefinitely the production and sale of Home Ownership Scheme flats in 2003.

As you are aware, one of my team's priorities is to tackle Hong Kong's housing issue at source. I am committed to working closely with various sectors of the community to help families of different means own their homes by increasing short, medium and long-term housing supply.
